The Smile Within

My mother smiles in me beyond the night,
Black earth releases colours for the day.
From broken waters swim desires to light.

One summer on the grass, her hand held tight,
Mere selves were lost in love's instinctive play.
My mother smiles in me, beyond the night.

When, in a playground, other boys would fight,
The blessing of the curse in me held sway.
From broken waters swim desires to light.

Then seemed my yearning served myself to spite,
Deep stirrings of the heart would steer astray.
My mother smiles in me, beyond the night.

Through grace, identity and faith unite:
I found a home where rainbow voices say:
From broken waters swim desires to light.

So now we sing of Rumi, whirling white,
Burning, along the path, the lovers pray.
My mother smiles in me, beyond the night,
From broken waters swim desires to light.

The Tongue of the Unseen

Time span impatient interludes until
I rest my dreams on morning’s breast and drink
The dark, lovely wine of your eyes, so blessed,
No art could estimate in paint, nor ink.

Love spoken, love unspeakable,
Beyond the silent looking glass,
Where every seeker finds, are you,
I am, and all shall come to pass.

In smiles’ eternity, the heart
Beat’s pause, beyond mute mirror far,
Of rainbow light I am. And here,
Where time’s mad races end, you are!

O
Sigh! So
Deep, so wide,
Of wOrld. Of Ocean
Know the O of love,
Of words, of longing, O the
Nought of One, the start
Of Nothing’s origin, the
One Becoming I
So. Sigh!
O

Perfect Love

Last night I dreamed I found the perfect love.
Beyond the sunlit oceans of the sky
In gardens love grows nourishing soul food.

Last night I dreamed I found the perfect love.
The longings of the world are satisfied
The moment when this life is understood.

Last night I dreamed I found the perfect love.
But slowly, as my arms reached out for her
She vanished as the heavens spun above.
Last night I dreamed I found the perfect love.

Last night I dreamed I found the perfect love.
The dreamer in this sleep one day will stir
And life’s travails and trials will come to good.

Last night I dreamed I found the perfect love.
She’d changed but in the mirror so had I.
She held her mouth to mine for love to prove.

Last night I dreamed I found the perfect love.
A star winked once set in a vivid sky
Whence grace of healing mercy flowed full flood.
Last night I dreamed I found the perfect love.
